4 Things You Should Do On World Red Cross Day!

World red cross day is a reminder to people to protect their lives and the victims of armed conflicts or violent acts. This day is dedicated to preventing emergencies and natural disasters such as epidemics, floods, and earthquakes. I don't really think that anyone actually celebrates this day, which is why, I have researched and come up with 4 different things you can do to contribute to this day, while social-distancing!

4 Essential Things You Should Do On 8th of May, 2020

1. Heroes Come In All Types And Sizes :D

It is said that the best way you can celebrate The Red Cross Day, is to donate blood. The blood used for saving the lives of thousands, an act of humanity. There are many viral videos on Instagram and any other social media app, showing people slaughtering animals or a clip of a dangerous shooting somewhere in the world. What I don't get about these videos is why they are being filmed. Instead of calling the cops or making attempts to stop the insanity, people actually film the whole thing, put it on social media, the caption being "We Have Lost All Hope In Humanity". Well, we certainly have. Humanity can be shown by taking a stand, by saying STOP. Anybody can save lives, donate blood, that little prick on your arm is worth a million lives.

2. It's All About Making A difference

We live in a community that is united in many different ways. To show this unity, contact your close friends, family members, and relatives, to show Covid-19 victims that they are not alone in this fight. We have lost over 200K people to date and the numbers keep on growing. Stay at home and spread awareness by writing down a slogan, article, or your thoughts and share it through those WhatsApp groups.

3. A reason to smile :)

An international humanitarian movement so as to ensure respect, good health, and protect human rights for all human beings on this planet. This day marks the well-being of a person to be safe and secure during dangerous times. I smile upon today because this day holds hopes of millions of people across the globe, that the human race will face any situation/disaster head-on, to protect themselves and our humanity. All you have to do is contemplate upon this day, and what it should mean to you.

4. Reach Out To Those In Need

Use social media and the internet effectively to reach out to people in need. There might be many people who could've been affected mentally by Covid-19. Depression can be a possibility in many. There would be community centers, health and mindfulness centers for these people, but since they cannot be there due to the Quarantine, the authorities can have online meetings and help those in need.

International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement

This is a nonprofit organization which carried out a significant international humanitarian movement with approximately 97 million volunteers, members and staff worldwide which was founded to protect human life and health, to ensure respect for all human beings, and to prevent human suffering. There are 7 fundamental principles by which this movement works ; Humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity and universality.

I think that it is very important for people to know what this movement is doing for humanity and health care. We should be proud that the world has important organizations that take care of us. Having almost 1 billion people volunteer is a very emblematic and gratifying act for us. These things are signs of hope that every person should be proud of. So, use this hashtag-#WorldRedCrossAndRedCrescentDay - in your Instagram or Facebook post and support the significance of The International Red Cross/Crescent Movement.

Stay At Home and Stay Healthy,

Au Revoir
